Apollo Cardiology was started by Dr. Twyman in August 2019 and focuses on the early detection and treatment of heart disease.
The practice offers more advanced testing than is generally done at a cardiologist’s office and this allows for disease to be found at the earliest stage. We are not waiting for you to have symptoms. This is a “Proactive and NOT Reactive” focus on your health.
It is designed to be the optimal medical practice that places your needs at the center of attention. Call us for more information or to book a consultation online!

Apollo Cardiology is an out-of-network practice. This means that we will be collecting a fee up front for our services, but this fee can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement, depending on the nature of your plan. You can also use a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) for medical visits.  The fees for this investment in your health is posted on the online scheduling page.  Labs, hospital testing and medications that are normally covered by insurance will still be covered.

Medicare patients are welcome at Apollo Cardiology. Patient’s will directly contract with Dr. Twyman (Apollo Cardiology). Patients who have Medicare will be given a letter stating that Dr. Twyman is opted out of Medicare. The practice will not bill Medicare for office visits. Medicare patients may submit the office visit bill to their secondary/supplementary insurance for possible reimbursement.

What does a cardiologist do?

This type of medical professional is focused on preventing or managing issues with the heart, like heart attacks. He or she can run diagnostic tests, prescribe medicine, recommend lifestyle changes, and provide treatments for a patient. The goal is to assess a patient’s heart health and improve it through these means. This is called general cardiology.

At Apollo Cardiology, our cardiologist is Dr. Michael Twyman MD. He practices general cardiology but is also specialized in integrative medicine with a focus on getting to the root cause of your conditions.  He is an expert in heart attack and stroke prevention.  In 2017 he discovered “biohacking” and has been using this modality of health optimization to help patients make incremental changes to their lifestyle and environment to improve their heart health and overall health over time.

How do cardiologists check your heart?

As mentioned above, one of the responsibilities of the cardiologist is to assess a patient’s heart health. To do so, the cardiologist will check your vital signs including your blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry level, and your height and weight. A thorough history and physical will be performed.  Testing may include advanced labs, imaging (CT Coronary Calcium Score, CIMT, Echocardiogram), stress tests, electrocardiogram (EKG), remote cardiac monitoring, or endothelial function testing (EndoPAT).

These services can help a patient prevent heart issues or keep an existing heart issue in check. With the ongoing assistance of a cardiologist, a patient with a heart issue can manage his or her symptoms better and possibly even return to the activities he or she used to enjoy prior to the onset of the condition.

Do I need to get a referral to see a cardiologist?

Dr. Twyman is out of network for all insurance carriers.  A referral is not necessary.  Patients are able to directly book with our practice

Apollo Cardiology will advise you on how to submit a claim for the office visit to your own insurance for possible reimbursement.

How do I find a cardiologist?

There are a number of options here. One is to look online for a “cardiology office near me,” and another is to ask family or friends if they would suggest a particular cardiologist. Alternatively, you can ask your primary care physician for a referral. If you need a cardiologist in St Louis MO, then you can come see Dr. Michael Twyman here at Apollo Cardiology, and he is fully capable of helping and treating you. During the in-office or telemedicine consultation, you’ll be able to speak with the doctor about your heart health and any conditions you have, and receive any testing you require. And if it turns out that you require the long-term care and services of the doctor, he would be very happy to provide this.

PATIENT REVIEWS & FEEDBACK

Apollo Cardiology St Louis MO

Dr. Twyman saved my life 2 years ago and now keeps me in good shape. Last year I visited Peru traveling on 600- – 12000 feet without any issues. He also helped me to move away from very limited and painful diet as he brought my blood test to normal. He is very thorough and has time to answer any questions. Highly recommend.

Apollo Cardiology St Louis MO

Knowledgeable doctor, helpful staff. I like the time with the doctor, not an army of clerks, techs and nurses. He is a good listener and answers questions. He came highly recommended by our family doctor, and I have seen him several times before this appointment and plan to keep coming back.
